2017 Articulate Dance Studio Timetable

Please note: This timetable may be subject to change depending on class sizes and teacher availabilities.

***Slight change to the timetable made 30.1.2017. Changes are highlighted (Junior Jazz and Junior Hip Hop).

Tiny Tots: Out tiny tots class is for the tiniest of dancers, aged 2 - 5 years. They do an hour class that includes Jazz, Tap and Ballet. We run the class with the needs of this age group in mind. They learn basic moves from each genre and learn a short dance for each genre that is performed at our end of year concert and other performance opportunities throughout the year.

Jazz: Jazz is the most popular dance style chosen by Articulate students. In Jazz class you will learn fun routines, develop flexibility, jump, turn, kick, roll,

Ballet: Ballet is the foundation of dance technique for a dancer. It is imperative to develop discipline, strength and control. All students are encouraged to take Ballet classes to help them improve across all genres of dance. We teach the A.T.O.D Ballet syllabus and students may choose to complete their examination if they wish to gain further qualifications and acknowledgement for their efforts in Ballet. Students learn barre and centre exercises that strategically develop strength and finish with the performance of a classical dance.

Tap: Tapping teaches dancers musicality as they create percussive sounds with their tap shoes. Be ready to shuffle, stamp, wing, pick-up and make a range of sounds and beats all with your own feet. At Articulate Dance Studio we teach the Glenn Wood Tap syllabus in our tap classes. Students will be given the option to complete their tap examinations through their involvement in tap classes.

Contemporary/Lyrical: Lyrical dancing is about telling a story through movement. Both contemporary and lyrical classes are very expressive and involve 'feeling' the music. Contemporary classes involve plenty of floor work, free movements, rolls, jumps, abstract shapes - all while maintaining a focus on strong dance technique.

Hip Hop: is a fairly fresh style of dance that involves free movements as well as isolations, popping and tricks. This popular dance style is suited for all dancers with varying levels of experience. Our Hip Hop classes are available for students 6 years and above (Junior Hip Hop).

Boys only Hip Hop: Articulate's Boys Only Hip Hop class is for young male students who wish to learn funky new dance moves. Hip Hop is about isolations and tricks and this class provides the opportunities for boys to learn in their own special way.

Ballet exam classes: We teach the A.T.O.D Ballet syllabus to students who wish to gain further qualifications and acknowledgement for their efforts in Ballet. Ballet exam classes provide further development of dance etiquette, discipline and technique for more serious dancers. Students learn barre and centre exercises that strategically develop strength and finish with the performance of a classical dance.

Cheer and Flexibility: This class is the ultimate class for those dancers who want to improve their skills and technique through flexibility, agility and endurance.

Flexibility: during this class dancers will learn the safe dance practice of stretching. It is important to stretch regularly in order to enhance our dance skills. However, many dancers do not know the implications of incorrect stretching technique. Throughout this class students will learn how to stretch safely while improving their technique and skills!

Cheer (Pom): The safest (and one of the most fun) genres of cheer. This class is fast paced and great for those students who want to get their bodies moving! Cheer teaches students to be apart of a team and the importance of counting, listening to musical cues and placement of the body. Pom cheer includes articulate arm movements, jumping, turning, synchronisation, small lifts and dancing. However, to join this class you do not have to be able to do all of these – we can all bring something to the class to make it unique! Not to mention – you get Pom Poms!!
